Zidovudine O-β-D-glucuronide
Zidovudine O-β-D-glucuronide (3'-Azido-3'-deoxythymidine β-D-glucuronide) is the glucuronide conjugate and metabolite of Zidovudine (HY-17413), which can be used to detect UGT2B7 activity. As a substrate, Zidovudine O-β-D-glucuronide undergoes deconjugation via hydrolysis by immobilized β-glucuronidase to produce Zidovudine.

Biological Activity
Zidovudine O-β-D-glucuronide (0.02-2.0 mM; 30 min) undergoes concentration-dependent hydrolysis by immobilized β-glucuronidase in an on-line reactor, with 98% conversion at 0.02 mM, while free β-glucuronidase achieves >98% conversion at all tested concentrations[2].
Zidovudine O-β-D-glucuronide (0.04 mM) undergoes 90% hydrolysis by immobilized β-glucuronidase at pH 5.0, and exposure of the reactor to pH 4.0 causes irreversible loss of activity, reducing subsequent hydrolysis at pH 5.0 to 12%[2].
