1,6-Di-O-galloyl-β-D-glucose is a compound found in the fruit of Phyllanthus emblica. 1,6-Di-O-galloyl-β-D-glucose has HIV-1 reverse transcriptase (RT) inhibitory activity with an IC50 value of 270 μM. 1,6-Di-O-galloyl-β-D-glucose shows competitive inhibition for the template primer and non-competitive inhibition for the substrate (dTTP). 1,6-Di-O-galloyl-β-D-glucose can be used in anti-HIV research.

In Vitro
1,6-Di-O-galloyl-β-D-glucose (Compound 2) weakly inhibits purified HIV-1 reverse transcriptase with an IC50 of 270 μM, acting via a non-competitive mode with respect to dTTP (Ki = 160 μM) and a competitive mode with respect to the template-primer (rA)n-p(dT)12-18 (Ki = 96.0 μM)[1].
