7-Methoxy-4H-chromen-4-one-o-carborane (Compound 2) potently inhibits purified COX-1 and COX-2 with IC50s of 3.0 μM and 1.0 μM, respectively[1].
7-Methoxy-4H-chromen-4-one-o-carborane (48 h) shows no antiproliferative activity against Raji, Ramos, PC3, and HepG2 cell lines[1].
7-Methoxy-4H-chromen-4-one-o-carborane binds to COX-1 and COX-2 proteins with its chromone scaffold inserted into the protein pockets and carborane at the pocket entrance, and forms a hydrogen bond with COX-2 Tyr385 that contributes to its COX-2 selectivity[1].
