PISD catalyzes the formation of phosphatidylethanolamine (PtdEtn) from phosphatidylserine (PtdSer). Plays a central role in phospholipid metabolism and in the interorganelle trafficking of phosphatidylserine. May be involved in lipid droplet biogenesis at the endoplasmic reticulum membrane[1][2].
