It is also found in the bladder (transitional epithelium) , placenta (trophoblast cells) , stomach (neuroendocrine cells) , colon (neuroendocrine cells) , and kidney (collecting ducts) . It is overexpressed in prostate cancer, and its expression is correlated with tumor stage, grade, and androgen-independent characteristics. It is highly expressed in bone metastases of prostate cancer. It is expressed in gastric epithelial cells, primarily in the gastric isthmus (protein level) . It is not detected in normal intestinal epithelium (protein level) . It is expressed in the cerebral cortex; its expression is significantly increased in the prefrontal cortex of Alzheimer's disease patients.
