Description

BODIPY FL L-Cystine is a thiol-reactive, green-fluorescent dye. BODIPY FL L-Cystine can be the labeling of membrane proteins, proteins with hydrophobic binding sites, or hydrophobic ligands. (λex=504 nm, λem=511 nm)[1][2].

In Vitro

BODIPY FL L-Cystine is composed of two BODIPY molecules and a cysteine residue for detection of reducing environments or the degradation process of disulfide-containing molecules.
BODIPY FL L-Cystine can be labeled to disulfide-containing polymers (such as PEI or pLL). As the disulfide bonds on the polymer be cut by the reducing environment, the self-quenching effect will be reduced, and the fluorescence intensity is increased[3].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
