Description

Bcl-2-like protein 1 Protein, Human (His) is an important apoptosis regulating gene that codes for both an anti-apoptotic (Bcl-xL) and a pro-apoptotic (Bcl-xS) splice variant[1].

Background

BCL2L1 is functionally involved in several cancer-related processes and its protein expression is associated with 20q gain. BCL2L1 (BCL2-like 1) belongs to the family of Bcl-2 proteins that are involved in the regulation of the mitochondrial pathway of apoptosis by controlling the release of proapoptotic factors from the mitochondrion[1].
