Description

CD157 Protein, Cynomolgus (HEK293, His) is the recombinant cynomolgus-derived CD157 protein, expressed by HEK293, with C-His tag.

Background

CD157, also known as bone marrow stromal antigen 1 (BST-1), is a multifunctional protein that catalyzes both the synthesis and hydrolysis of cyclic ADP-beta-D-ribose (cADPR) from and to NAD(+), respectively. Cyclic ADPR functions as an endogenous second messenger capable of eliciting calcium release from intracellular stores, thereby regulating the mobilization of intracellular calcium, although this function is described as probable. The duality of CD157's enzymatic activities suggests a regulatory role in cellular signaling cascades involving calcium release. Additionally, CD157 is speculated to be involved in pre-B-cell growth, indicating its potential contribution to cellular processes associated with B-cell development. It has to underscore CD157's versatility in cyclic ADP-ribose metabolism and hints at its participation in calcium signaling and cell growth regulation.
