C2/Complement C2 protein is essential in the classical pathway of the complement system. Activated by factor C1, C2 is cleaved into C2b and C2a. As a serine protease, C2a interacts with C4b, generating the C3 or C5 convertase. This crucial process activates and amplifies the complement cascade. C2/Complement C2 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived C2/Complement C2 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-His labeled tag.

Description

C2/Complement C2 protein is essential in the classical pathway of the complement system. Activated by factor C1, C2 is cleaved into C2b and C2a. As a serine protease, C2a interacts with C4b, generating the C3 or C5 convertase. This crucial process activates and amplifies the complement cascade. C2/Complement C2 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived C2/Complement C2 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-His labeled tag.

Background

C2/Complement C2 protein plays a crucial role in the classical pathway of the complement system. When activated by factor C1, C2 undergoes cleavage, resulting in the formation of two fragments: C2b and C2a. C2a, functioning as a serine protease, subsequently interacts with complement factor C4b, leading to the generation of the C3 or C5 convertase. This process is essential for the activation and amplification of the complement cascade.

Verified Bioactivity

Measured by its ability to cleave a colorimetric peptide substrate, N-carbobenzyloxy-Gly-Arg-ThioBenzyl ester (Z-GR-SBzl), in the presence of 5,5’Dithio-bis (2-nitrobenzoic acid) (DTNB). The specific activity is 165.13 pmol/min/μg.
