Background
FBXL10 is a histone demethylase that specifically removes methylation modifications at 'Lys-4' and 'Lys-36' sites of histone H3, playing a central role in histone code regulation. This enzyme preferentially targets trimethylated H3 'Lys-4' and dimethylated H3 'Lys-36' residues but exhibits weak or no activity toward mono- or trimethylated H3 'Lys-36'. FBXL10 primarily binds to the transcribed region of ribosomal RNA and represses ribosomal RNA gene transcription, thereby inhibiting cell growth and proliferation. Additionally, it may function as a substrate-recognition component of the SCF (SKP1-CUL1-F-box protein)-type E3 ubiquitin ligase complex.
