Fc gamma RIIIB/CD16b Protein, a low-affinity receptor for IgG, binds complexed or monomeric IgG. Unlike Fc gamma RIIIA, it cannot mediate antibody-dependent cytotoxicity or phagocytosis. Instead, Fc gamma RIIIB may act as a trap for immune complexes, circulating without activating neutrophils.
