Biological Activity
Description
GLUT1 Protein, Human (sf9, His, N45T, E329Q) is the recombinant human-derived GLUT1, expressed by sf9 insect cells , with His labeled tag. ,
Background
Glucose Transporter GLUT1 is a facilitative glucose transporter responsible for constitutive or basal glucose uptake. It exhibits broad substrate specificity, capable of transporting various aldoses, including both pentoses and hexoses. As the primary energy carrier in the brain, GLUT1 is present at the blood-brain barrier and mediates energy-independent, facilitative glucose transport into the brain. In association with BSG and NXNL1, it promotes retinal cone survival by enhancing glucose uptake in photoreceptors (by similar). Additionally, it is required for mesendoderm differentiation (by similar).
