Biological Activity

Description

GRM1 Protein, Human (sf9, Flag, His) is the recombinant human-derived GRM1, expressed by sf9 insect cells , with His, Flag labeled tag.

Background

GRM1 is a G-protein coupled receptor for glutamate. Ligand binding induces a conformational change that triggers signaling via guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) and modulates downstream effector activity. This signaling activates a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. GRM1 may play a central role in glutamate's action in the CNS, such as long-term potentiation in the hippocampus and long-term depression in the cerebellum. Additionally, it may function in the light response in the retina (by similar). In dopaminergic neurons, GRM1 induces GRID1 and GRID2 cation-channel activation via the GNAQ-PLC-PKC pathway, with a similar effect observed in cerebellar Purkinje cells.
