Description

LCC proteolyzes cutin, the structural polyester of plant cuticles. LCC Protein, Unknown prokaryotic organism is the recombinant LCC protein, expressed by E. coli , with tag free. The total length of LCC Protein, Unknown prokaryotic organism is 258 a.a., .

Background

The LCC protein plays a pivotal role in cellular processes as it catalyzes the hydrolysis of cutin, a polyester crucial for the structural composition of the plant cuticle. As evidenced by various studies, LCC exhibits esterase activity toward p-nitrophenol-linked aliphatic esters (pNP-aliphatic esters), demonstrating a preference for short-chain substrates (up to C4). Interestingly, LCC shows incapacity to hydrolyze olive oil. Moreover, this versatile enzyme demonstrates the ability to degrade poly(ethylene terephthalate), the most prevalent polyester plastic globally, and can also depolymerize poly(epsilon-caprolactone) (PCL), a synthetic aliphatic biodegradable polyester. The multifaceted substrate specificity of LCC underscores its significance in the enzymatic breakdown of diverse polyesters, highlighting its potential applications in both natural and synthetic polymer degradation processes.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.

  • Dilution Calculator

  • Specific Activity Calculator

The reconstitution calculator equation

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration

Volume (to add to vial) = Mass (in vial) ÷ Desired Reconstitution Concentration
= ÷

The dilution calculator equation

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)

This equation is commonly abbreviated as: C1V1 = C2V2

Concentration (start) × Volume (start) = Concentration (final) × Volume (final)
× = ×
C1   V1   C2   V2

The specific activity calculator equation

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)

Specific Activity (Unit/mg) = 106 ÷ Biological Activity (ED50)
Unit/mg = 106 ÷ ng/mL
