When 6-O-Methyl Guanosine is located at the first or third position of a codon, it decreases the accuracy of tRNA selection. When 6-O-Methyl Guanosine is located at the second position of a codon, it slows down the peptide bond formation rate of cognate aminoacyl-tRNA but does not change the reaction rate of near-cognate aminoacyl-tRNA .
