2-Hydrazinyl-3-methylbutanoic acid
2-Hydrazinyl-3-methylbutanoic acid is a diamine oxidase (DAO) inhibitor. 2-Hydrazinyl-3-methylbutanoic acid acts as a non-competitive inhibitor of diamine oxidase (with histamine as the substrate), achieving an inhibition rate of up to 76%. This inhibition can be prevented by pre-incubation with 2-Ketoglutaric acid (HY-W013636) to form a non-inhibitory complex. 2-Hydrazinyl-3-methylbutanoic acid also inhibits glutamate decarboxylase and 5-hydroxytryptophan decarboxylase, and exhibits moderate inhibitory activity against monoamine oxidase. 2-Hydrazinyl-3-methylbutanoic acid can be used in studies related to amino acid metabolic enzymes.

Biological Activity
2-Hydrazinyl-3-methylbutanoic acid (compound 5) at 110 μM inhibits diamine oxidase derived from porcine kidney (with histamine as the substrate) with an inhibition rate of 76%[1].
2-Hydrazinyl-3-methylbutanoic acid (1.4 mM) inhibits L-glutamic acid decarboxylase derived from guinea pig brain with an inhibition rate of 48%[1].
2-Hydrazinyl-3-methylbutanoic acid (1.0 mM) inhibits 5-hydroxy-L-tryptophan decarboxylase derived from guinea pig kidney with an inhibition rate of 29%[1].
2-Hydrazinyl-3-methylbutanoic acid (1.1 mM) inhibits bovine liver-derived monoamine oxidase; it shows a 42% inhibition rate against β-phenethylamine, a 12% inhibition rate against n-butylamine, and no inhibitory effect on tyramine[1].
2-Hydrazinyl-3-methylbutanoic acid (1.0 mM; 2 min) shows no inhibitory effect on porcine heart-derived L-aspartate:2-oxoglutarate aminotransferase[1].
