GFRA1 is a Coreceptor for GDNF, a neurotrophic factor that enhances survival and morphological differentiation of dopaminergic neurons and increases their high-affinity dopamine uptake. GDNF-binding leads to autophosphorylation and activation of the RET receptor[1][2].
