Euphorbia factor L11 serves as the biosynthetic precursor of Lathyranoic acid A, which can be converted into Lathyranoic acid A via Baeyer-Villiger oxidation. This biosynthetic conversion may be mediated by cytochrome P450 or FAD-dependent enzymes. Euphorbia factor L11 (compound 2) is isolated from Euphorbia lathyris seeds with a yield of 0.011% and is identified as (2S,3S,4R,5R,7R,9S,11S,15R)-5-acetoxy-3,7-dibenzoyloxy-14-oxolathyra-6(17),12E-diene[1].
Euphorbia factor L11 (8-48 h) undergoes chemical Baeyer-Villiger oxidation to form lathyranoic acid A with 35% yield after 48 h at room temperature (Route A) and 24% yield after 8 h at 0 °C (Route B)[1].
