Biological Activity
Four Pyruvate Kinase isoforms are found in mammals: PKM1 that is mainly expressed in tissues with high catabolic demand, such as muscle, heart and brain; PKM2 that is mainly expressed in embryonic tissues, many adult tissues (such as lymphocytes and intestinal epithelial cells), and cancer cells; PKR that is only expressed in erythrocytes; and PKL that is expressed in the liver, with a small amount of expression in the kidney[3].
PKM1 affects cell proliferation and tumor suppression by regulating glucose oxidation and nucleotide synthesis[4].
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
