Background
Acylphosphatase-2 (ACYP2) is a small cytosolic acylphosphatase enzyme. The ACYP2 gene, located on chromosome 2p16.2, catalyzes the hydrolysis of carboxyl-phosphate bonds and hydrolyzes the phosphoenzyme intermediates of various membrane pumps, such as the sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+/Mg2+-ATPase found in skeletal muscle[1].
