Background

APLP-2, a multifunctional protein, is implicated in the regulation of hemostasis, with its soluble form demonstrating inhibitory properties towards coagulation factors. This protein may engage with cellular G-protein signaling pathways and exhibits binding to the DNA 5'-GTCACATG-3' (CDEI box). APLP-2 showcases diverse inhibitory activities, including trypsin, chymotrypsin, plasmin, factor XIA, and plasma and glandular kallikrein. Moreover, it modulates the Cu/Zn nitric oxide-catalyzed autodegradation of GPC1 heparan sulfate side chains in fibroblasts. In its molecular interactions, APLP-2 engages with CPEB1 and interacts with DAB2 via its NPXY motif, with this interaction being influenced by tyrosine phosphorylation.
