Biological Activity
BAK1 Protein, Human is the recombinant human-derived BAK1, expressed by E. coli, with tag free labeled tag.
Bak is a protein that plays a critical role in the mitochondrial apoptotic process. Upon receiving cell death signals, Bak oligomerizes to form pores in the mitochondrial outer membrane (MOM), promoting MOM permeabilization. This releases apoptogenic factors, such as cytochrome c, into the cytosol, leading to the activation of caspase 9 and subsequently the effector caspases.
