Background
Fc gamma RIIB/CD32b Protein plays a crucial role by enabling IgG binding activity, indicating its involvement in immune responses. Engaged in diverse processes such as cellular response to amyloid-beta, nervous system development, and regulation of cellular response to stress, the protein acts upstream of or within processes including antigen processing and presentation of exogenous peptide antigen via MHC class II, negative regulation of immune effector processes, and regulation of phagocytosis. It is strategically located in the cell body, dendritic spine, and the external side of the plasma membrane, functioning as an integral component of the membrane. Broadly expressed in tissues such as the kidney (RPKM 19.1), spleen (RPKM 16.7), and 21 other tissues, Fc gamma RIIB/CD32b demonstrates its significance in immune regulation across various physiological contexts. The human ortholog(s) of this gene have been implicated in several diseases, including autoimmune diseases, dengue disease, hematologic cancers, leukopenia, and malaria, underscoring its critical role in health and disease.
