Biological Activity

Description

HK2 Protein, Human (sf9, His) is the recombinant human-derived HK2 protein, expressed by Sf9 insect cells, with C-10*His tag.

Background

Hexokinase II is an enzyme that catalyzes the phosphorylation of hexoses, such as D-glucose and D-fructose, into hexose 6-phosphates (D-glucose 6-phosphate and D-fructose 6-phosphate, respectively). It mediates the initial step of glycolysis by phosphorylating D-glucose to D-glucose 6-phosphate. Additionally, Hexokinase II plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the outer mitochondrial membrane by preventing the release of apoptogenic molecules from the intermembrane space, thereby inhibiting apoptosis. by similar functions also include involvement in energy metabolism regulation.

Product Properties

Appearance

Lyophilized powder.

Formulation

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution of 20 mM PB, 300 mM Nacl, 10% glycerol, pH 7.0. Normally 5 % - 8 % trehalose, mannitol and 0.01% Tween80 are added as protectants before lyophilization.

Endotoxin Level

<1 EU/μg, determined by LAL method.

Reconstitution

It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100 μg/mL in ddH2O.

Storage & Stability

Stored at -20°C for 2 years from date of receipt. After reconstitution, it is stable at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for longer (with carrier protein). It is recommended to freeze aliquots at -20°C or -80°C for extended storage.

Shipping

Room temperature in continental US; may vary elsewhere.
