KRT18 Protein, Human (HEK293, His)
Based on 1 Customer Validation
The KRT18 protein is a heterotetramer with KRT8 that has multiple roles, including uptake of thrombin-antithrombin complexes and assisting in the delivery of mutated CFTR to the plasma membrane. It cooperates with KRT8 in IL-6-mediated barrier protection and interacts with PLEC isoform 1C. KRT18 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived KRT18 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with N-10*His labeled tag.

Description
The KRT18 protein is a heterotetramer with KRT8 that has multiple roles, including uptake of thrombin-antithrombin complexes and assisting in the delivery of mutated CFTR to the plasma membrane. It cooperates with KRT8 in IL-6-mediated barrier protection and interacts with PLEC isoform 1C. KRT18 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived KRT18 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with N-10*His labeled tag.
Background
The KRT18 Protein plays diverse roles in cellular processes, including the uptake of thrombin-antithrombin complexes by hepatic cells and the reorganization of filaments when phosphorylated. It actively participates in the delivery of mutated CFTR to the plasma membrane and collaborates with KRT8 in interleukin-6 (IL-6)-mediated barrier protection. As a heterotetramer of two type I and two type II keratins, KRT18 forms a complex with KRT8, and interacts with PLEC isoform 1C when in a heterodimer with KRT8. Additionally, KRT18 engages in interactions with the thrombin-antithrombin complex and exhibits connections with various proteins such as PNN, mutated CFTR, YWHAE, YWHAH, YWHAZ (when phosphorylated), DNAJB6, TCHP, TRADD, FAM83H, EPPK1, PKP1, and PKP2. The multifaceted interactions and functions of KRT18 highlight its involvement in fundamental cellular activities and its contribution to molecular pathways governing cell structure and signaling.
