Semenogelin-1 Protein, Human (HEK293, His)
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Semenogelin-1 Protein is a major protein in semen and is involved in the formation of a gel matrix that encapsulates accessory glandular secretions and ejaculated sperm. Semenogelin-1 Protein can be hydrolyzed by prostate-specific antigen (PSA) protease to produce a variety of peptide products with different functions. Semenogelin-1 Protein is a predictor of cancer progression and prognosis. Semenogelin-1 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived Semenogelin-1 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-6*His labeled tag.

Background
Semenogelin-1 is the main protein in semen and is involved in the formation of a gel matrix that encapsulates accessory glandular secretions and ejaculated sperm. Semenogelin-1 can be hydrolyzed by prostate-specific antigen (PSA) protease to produce a variety of peptide products with different functions. One of these peptides, SgI-29, is an antimicrobial peptide with antimicrobial activity. The Semenogelin-1 hydrolysis process also breaks down the gel matrix, allowing the sperm to move more freely. Semenogelin-1 can be used as a predictor of cancer progression and prognosis[1][2][3][4].

Product Properties
Lyophilized powder.
Lyophilized from a 0.22 μm filtered solution of 20 mM HAc-NaAc, 150 mM NaCl, pH 4.5.
<1 EU/μg, determined by LAL method.
It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100 μg/mL in ddH2O. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% BSA, 5% HSA, 10% FBS or 5% Trehalose).
Stored at -20°C for 2 years from date of receipt. After reconstitution, it is stable at 4°C for 1 week or -20°C for longer (with carrier protein). It is recommended to freeze aliquots at -20°C or -80°C for extended storage.
Room temperature in continental US; may vary elsewhere.
