Serpin G1, also known as C1 inhibitor, controls C1 complex activation by forming a proteolytically inactive complex with C1r or C1s proteases. Their interactions regulate physiological pathways such as complement activation, coagulation, fibrinolysis, and kinin production. Serpin G1 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived Serpin G1 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-10*His labeled tag.

Biological Activity

Description

Serpin G1, also known as C1 inhibitor, controls C1 complex activation by forming a proteolytically inactive complex with C1r or C1s proteases. Their interactions regulate physiological pathways such as complement activation, coagulation, fibrinolysis, and kinin production. Serpin G1 Protein, Human (HEK293, His) is the recombinant human-derived Serpin G1 protein, expressed by HEK293 , with C-10*His labeled tag.

Background

Serpin G1, known as C1-inhibitor, exerts control over the activation of the C1 complex by forming a proteolytically inactive stoichiometric complex with the C1r or C1s proteases. This interaction highlights its potential pivotal role in regulating essential physiological pathways, including complement activation, blood coagulation, fibrinolysis, and kinin generation. Functioning as a highly efficient inhibitor of FXIIa, it also inhibits chymotrypsin and kallikrein. Remarkably, Serpin G1 binds to E. coli stcE, facilitating its localization to cell membranes and thereby safeguarding the bacteria against complement-mediated lysis. Additionally, it engages with MASP1, further contributing to its intricate involvement in diverse cellular processes.

Verified Bioactivity

Measured by its ability to inhibit Recombinant Human Complement Component C1s cleavage of a colorimetric peptide substrate, N-carbobenzyloxy-Lys-ThioBenzyl ester (Z-K-SBzl). The IC50 is < 15 nM, as measured under the described conditions.
