Background

THBS2 Protein is an adhesive glycoprotein that plays a crucial role in facilitating cell-to-cell and cell-to-matrix interactions. This homotrimeric protein is linked by disulfide bonds and interacts with various molecules to exert its effects. Specifically, THBS2 interacts with CD36 through its TSP type I repeats, resulting in an antiangiogenic effect. Additionally, THBS2 also interacts with HRG through the same repeats, effectively blocking the antiangiogenic effect of THBS2 with CD36. Moreover, THBS2 has the ability to bind to fibrinogen, fibronectin, laminin, and type V collagen, further expanding its functional repertoire.
