Nitroxynil is a broad-spectrum veterinary anthelmintic and a substrate of ABCG2. Nitroxynil inhibits ATP production by uncoupling the oxidative phosphorylation process of mitochondria, thereby disrupting the parasite body covering, impairing its motility, and ultimately inducing parasite death.
