- CAS No.: 1689-89-0
- Formula:C7H3IN2O3
- Molecular Weight:290.02
IUPAC Name: 4-hydroxy-3-iodo-5-nitrobenzonitrile
InChIKey: SGKGVABHDAQAJO-UHFFFAOYSA-N
SMILES: N#CC1=CC([N+]([O-])=O)=C(O)C(I)=C1
Biological Activity: Nitroxynil is a broad-spectrum veterinary anthelmintic and a substrate of ABCG2. Nitroxynil inhibits ATP production by uncoupling the oxidative phosphorylation process of mitochondria, thereby disrupting the parasite body covering, impairing its motility, and ultimately inducing parasite death. Nitroxynil induces chromosomal aberrations, sister chromatid exchanges and abnormal sperm morphology, and interferes with spermatogenesis. Nitroxynil is widely applicable to studies on fascioliasis, myiasis, Haemonchus spp. infections, and Oestrus ovis infections[1][2][3].
