Description

Sodium 4-aminobenzoate is an intermediate in the synthesis of folic acid by bacteria, plants and fungi. Sodium 4-aminobenzoate has antibacterial and plant growth regulating properties[1][2][3].

In Vitro

Sodium 4-aminobenzoate shows a direct antibacterial activity against Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella enteritidis and E. coli, with MICs ranged from 9-24 mmol[2].
Sodium 4-aminobenzoate has been utilized as active constituents in sunscreens to protect against UVB irradiation, i.e., scavengers of reactive oxygen species[2].
Sodium 4-aminobenzoate (0.02-2 mM) displays the promotion of resistance against plant bacterial and viral pathogens and plant growth modulator properties[3].

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
