Sodium octyl sulfate (SOS), 95%
Based on 1 Customer Validation
Sodium octyl sulfate (Sodium capryl sulfate; SOS), 95% is a medium-chain anionic surfactant. Sodium octyl sulfate (SOS), 95% exhibits strong hydrophobic interactions with serum albumins (such as human serum albumin HSA and bovine serum albumin BSA), but only weak interactions with other proteins including myoglobin and hemoglobin. Sodium octyl sulfate (SOS), 95% acts as an environmental pollutant in freshwater ecosystems, mimicking the interspecific pheromones released by *Daphnia magna* to induce the formation of multicellular colonies in green algae.

Biological Activity
Sodium octyl sulfate (SOS), 95% (0.01-5.0% w/w), selectively improves the capillary electrophoresis peak efficiency and electrophoretic mobility of human serum albumin (HSA) and bovine serum albumin (BSA)[1].
Sodium octyl sulfate (SOS), 95% (1.0% w/w; 30 s), enables highly sensitive on-line enrichment of human serum albumin (HSA) in capillary electrophoresis, with a limit of detection as low as 0.1 nM, as well as excellent linearity and reproducibility[1].
Sodium octyl sulfate (SOS), 95% (1.0% w/w; 10-30 s), enables selective and sensitive quantitative detection of albumin in complex biological matrices based on capillary electrophoresis. It detects human serum albumin at 0.24 μM in urine, human serum albumin at 27.8 μM in red blood cells, and bovine serum albumin at 5.28 μM in milk[1].
Sodium octyl sulfate (SOS) (0.02-200 mg/L; 24-72 h) induces colony formation in Desmodesmus subspicatus without altering its growth status; it indirectly reduces the feeding rates of Daphnia galeata and Bosmina fatalis, which feed on this alga, by inducing colony formation in Desmodesmus subspicatus, but exerts no significant effect on the feeding rate of Bosmina longirostris[2].
