2-Methyl-3-buten-1-ol is a hydroxylated byproduct formed through secondary modification of isoprene in the sealed culture system of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae 20B-12 transformant heterologously expressing the kudzu IspS gene[1].
2-Methyl-3-buten-1-ol is the starting alcohol precursor for the synthesis of 2-methyl-3-butenyl-1-pyrophosphate (2M3B1PP)[2].
