3,4,6-Tribromo-5-methylbenzene-1,2-diol (Compound 4) acts as an aldose reductase inhibitor with an IC50 of 1.15 μg/mL. 3,4,6-Tribromo-5-methylbenzene-1,2-diol blocks the conversion of excessive D-glucose (HY-B0389) to D-sorbitol (HY-B0400) via the polyol pathway. 3,4,6-Tribromo-5-methylbenzene-1,2-diol can be used in studies related to diabetic complications.
