Claudin-6 (CLDN6) is a core transmembrane protein of tight junctions (TJs) and a member of the Claudin family (comprising 27 members). While it is widely expressed during the embryonic stage but virtually absent in normal adult tissues, it is frequently activated in various solid tumors; consequently, it is a highly promising tumor-specific target, often referred to as the "carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA)" of solid tumors.
