Background
Function:Blocks the elongation and depolymerization of the actin filaments at the pointed end (PubMed:38168645). The Tmod/TM complex contributes to the formation of the short actin protofilament, which in turn defines the geometry of the membrane skeleton. May play an important role in regulating the organization of actin filaments by preferentially binding to a specific tropomyosin isoform at its N-terminus
Subcellular Localization:Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton
Expression:
Tissue_Specificity: Highly expressed in the erythrocyte, heart and skeletal muscle
Isoforms & Post-Translational Modification:P28289 has two isomers: P28289-1: 40569 Da (predicted); P28289-2: 26014 Da (predicted).
Subunit:Binds to the N-terminus of tropomyosin and to actin
Synonyms
D9S57E; ETMOD; TMOD

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
