Carbonic anhydrase-IN-2
Carbonic anhydrase-IN-2 is an orally active carbonic anhydrase inhibitor. Carbonic anhydrase-IN-2 shows antibacterial effect against various vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) strains. Carbonic anhydrase-IN-2 can be used for the research of infection, such as E. faecium.

Biological Activity
Carbonic anhydrase-IN-2 (Compound 20) (184-3060 nM, 18-20 h) inhibits proliferation of various vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) strains including E. faecium NR-31909 and E. faecalis NR-31971, with an MIC50 of 184 nM and an MIC90 of 3060 nM[1].
Carbonic anhydrase-IN-2 potently inhibits E. faecium α-carbonic anhydrase (Efα-CA) (Ki = 31.6 nM) and γ-carbonic anhydrase (Efγ-CA) (Ki = 62.3 nM)[1].
Carbonic anhydrase-IN-2 (24 h) shows bacteriostatic effect against E. faecium NR-31909[1].
Carbonic anhydrase-IN-2 (18-20 h) shows no inhibitory activity against 12 gut commensal strains including Lactobacillus, Bacteroides and Bifidobacterium with MIC >784 μM[1].
Carbonic anhydrase-IN-2 (0-128 μg/mL, 24 h) shows no obvious cytotoxicity in Vero cells, maintaining cell viability at 95-100%[1].
