DOPE-PEG2000-GNYTCEVTELTREGETIIELK: functionalization of liposomes and nanoparticles for MMP-targeted drug delivery and anti-angiogenic research in cancer treatment.
Structural composition:
(1) DOPE; a phospholipid with two unsaturated oleoyl chains that serves as a hydrophobic membrane anchor and provides fusogenic activity for endosomal escape;
(2) PEG2000; a hydrophilic polymer chain that creates a steric shield reducing opsonization and RES clearance, extending circulation time;
(3) GNYTCEVTELTREGETIIELK peptide; a 21-residue peptide derived from TIMP-2 that binds to matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), particularly MMP-2, which are highly expressed in tumor microenvironments, enabling targeting of MMP-rich tumor tissues while potentially inhibiting MMP-mediated extracellular matrix degradation and angiogenesis.
