Function

CD322 regulates a variety of cellular processes by mediating interactions between heterologous cells through its homologous receptor JAM3. CD322 plays a role in the homing and mobilization of hematopoietic stem cells and progenitors in the bone marrow. On the surface of bone marrow stromal cells, CD322 facilitates the retention of hematopoietic stem cells and progenitors expressing JAM3. CD322 plays a central role in leukocyte exudation, promoting not only transendothelial migration of leukocytes but also adhesion and rolling of leukocytes along endothelial cells. Leukocyte adhesion and rolling depend on the binding of integrin α4/β1 to CD322^[1].
