Fluorescein Di-β-D-Glucuronide is an orally active fluorescent probe substrate and an indicator of β-glucuronidase (βG) activity in intestinal bacteria. Fluorescein Di-β-D-Glucuronide can be used for non-invasive time-lapse optical imaging of βG activity in intestinal bacteria in nude mice. Fluorescein Di-β-D-Glucuronide supports the quantitative analysis of bacterial βG enzyme activity and inhibition.

Description

Fluorescein Di-β-D-Glucuronide is an orally active fluorescent probe substrate and an indicator of β-glucuronidase (βG) activity in intestinal bacteria. Fluorescein Di-β-D-Glucuronide can be used for non-invasive time-lapse optical imaging of βG activity in intestinal bacteria in nude mice. Fluorescein Di-β-D-Glucuronide supports the quantitative analysis of bacterial βG enzyme activity and inhibition[1].

In Vitro

Fluorescein Di-β-D-Glucuronide is a sensitive fluorescent probe used to detect bacterial Beta-glucuronidase activity in E. coli BL21 cells[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

In Vivo

Fluorescein Di-β-D-Glucuronide (7.3 μmol/kg; p.o.; single administration) produces a maximum total abdominal fluorescence flux of 9.4 × 109 photons/second in 7-week-old Balb/c nude mice at 3 hours post-gavage. Its signal intensity in the large intestine is 9.4-fold higher than that in the fluorescein-treated control group, and it causes dose-dependent reductions in abdominal and large intestinal fluorescence signals in 7-week-old Balb/c nude mice pretreated with the Beta-glucuronidase (HY-P2803) inhibitor[1].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Animal Model: Balb/c nude (7-week-old)[1]
Dosage: 7.3 μmol/kg
Administration: p.o.; single dose
Result: Detected a significant abdominal fluorescent signal, reaching a maximum total flux of 9.4 × 109 photons/second at 3 hours post-gavage, which was 13.3-fold higher than that in fluorescein-treated mice.
Showed a fluorescent signal in the large intestines that was 9.4-fold stronger than that in fluorescein-treated mice.
Detected slight, non-significant signals in the liver, stomach, kidney, and small intestines, which were at least 50-fold weaker than the large intestine signal.
Reduced the abdominal fluorescent signal.
Reduced the fluorescent signal in excised large intestine.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
