Alterporriol C

Alterporriol C is an alternariol-type anthraquinone dimer isolated from the fungus Alternaria sp. ZJ-2008003, with antibacterial and antiviral activities. Alterporriol C inhibits the growth of Escherichia coli and Vibrio parahaemolyticus (MIC = 2.5 μM), and suppresses the replication of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) (IC₅₀ = 39 μM). Alterporriol C can be used in studies related to bacterial and viral infections.

In Vitro

Alterporriol C (compound 26) shows no cytotoxic activity against HCT-116, MCF-7/ADR, PC-3, HepG2, and Hep3B cell lines, with IC₅₀ > 20 μM^[1].
Alterporriol C potently inhibits the growth of E. coli and V. parahemolyticus with an MIC of 2.5 μM for each, and inhibits PRRSV replication with an IC₅₀ of 39 μM^[1].
