Methionine sulfoximine (2-Amino-4-(S-methylsulfonimidoyl)butanoic acid) is an irreversible inhibitor of glutamine synthetase with convulsive effects. Methionine sulfoximine is able to affect the metabolism of glutamate and glutamine, which may provide important insights in neurobiological research.
