Renin inhibitory peptide, statine inhibits the plasma renin activity of human plasma renin, porcine renin, and sodium-depleted conscious dogs. Renin inhibitory peptide, statine reduces the mean arterial pressure of sodium-depleted conscious dogs, induces a sustained, dose-dependent decrease in blood pressure, and triggers a maximum hypotensive response. Biological Activity
Renin inhibitory peptide, statine, can exert dose-dependent effects on mean arterial blood pressure and plasma renin activity in sodium-deficient awake dogs via continuous intravenous infusion; higher infusion rates reduce mean arterial blood pressure, lower infusion rates inhibit plasma renin activity, and continuous intravenous infusion for 48 hours can maintain the dual effects of lowering blood pressure and inhibiting plasma renin[1].
Renin inhibitory peptide, statine (0.03 mg/kg per min; i.v.; continuous intravenous infusion; 2 days) reduces mean arterial pressure (MAP) by 21 mmHg in conscious sodium-depleted dogs, completely inhibits plasma renin activity (PRA) during infusion, and causes the recovery of PRA to lag behind that of MAP after termination of infusion[2].
Renin inhibitory peptide, statine (0.1-160 μg/kg per min; intravenous injection; acute infusion) exhibits the following effects in conscious sodium-depleted dogs: a dose-dependent inhibition of PRA at doses of 0.1-2.0 μg/kg per min, with no significant reduction in MAP; complete inhibition of PRA at doses ≥20 μg/kg per min; and a dose-dependent reduction in MAP only at doses ≥40 μg/kg per min[2].
