trans-2-Methyl-2-butenal
trans-2-Methyl-2-butenal (Tiglaldehyde) is an adduct former that can be found in cigarette smoke, and very weakly inhibits growth of cancer cells and normal mouse cells. trans-2-Methyl-2-butenal forms adducts with glutathione (GSH) via Michael addition.trans-2-Methyl-2-butenal is an α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compound.

Biological Activity
trans-2-Methyl-2-butenal (1 μL; 30 min) shows poor reactivity with GSH in a cell-free biochemical assay, as evidenced by low peak intensity of its GSH adduct in LC/MS analysis[1].
trans-2-Methyl-2-butenal (100 μM; 72 h) very weakly inhibits the growth of Colon-26 mouse colorectal carcinoma cells and BALB/3T3 clone A31 mouse embryo normal cells[1].
MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
