Description

BCDA (5-bromo-4-chloroindoxyl acetate) is a chromogenic substrate of esterase used to potently detect the activity of esterase[1].

In Vitro

Guide (The following is the experimental plan we recommend. This plan serves only as a reference guide. The specific operations should be adjusted according to your actual needs.)
1. Preparation of stock solution and working solution Prepare a high-concentration stock solution to dilute into the working buffer. Dissolve BCDA in a suitable solvent, such as DMF or DMSO. The typical concentration of the stock solution is 10-50 mg/mL. Buffer: Prepare a suitable buffer for the esterase (for example, 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5). Dilution: Dilute the stock solution into the buffer, with the final concentration being 0.1-1 mg/mL (or approximately 0.5-5 mM). 2. Detection method 2.1 Incubation: Incubate the sample at 37°C or room temperature. 2.2 Visualization: The esterase activity will convert the substrate into a blue precipitate. 2.3 Monitoring: Monitor the development of color. The reaction time depends on the enzyme activity, usually ranging from 30 minutes to several hours.

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
