In Vitro
Chondroitin sulfate sodium (from bovine) (1-1000 μg/mL; 7 days) reduces the formation of TRAP-positive multinucleated osteoclasts derived from human peripheral blood mononuclear cells only at the concentration of 1000 μg/mL[1].
Chondroitin sulfate sodium (from bovine) (1-1000 μg/mL; 10 days) potently and persistently inhibits the bone resorptive activity of osteoclasts derived from human peripheral blood mononuclear cells[1].
Chondroitin sulfate sodium (from bovine) exhibits concentration-dependent in vitro antioxidant activity. Among these fractions, the lowest molecular weight component (BCS-II-4, 19.7 kDa) shows the strongest scavenging activity against superoxide anions, DPPH radicals and hydroxyl radicals, as well as the highest ferric ion reducing power[2].
