Nitrilotriacetic acid is an orally active chelating agent for metal ions. Nitrilotriacetic acid is an aminotricarboxylic acid that can sequester metal ions as water soluble complexes. Nitrilotriacetic acid reacts with strong oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite, chlorine, ozone, or oxygen in the presence of palladium/carbon catalyst. Nitrilotriacetic acid interacts with solid phases such as cell membranes and bone matrices in the mammalian system. Nitrilotriacetic acid is classified as an epigenetic rodent carcinogen .

Epyrifenacil is a protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) inhibiting herbicide, potently targeting the PPO2 isoform from weeds such as Amaranthus palmeri with an IC50 of 0.637 nM. Epyrifenacil also inhibits liver mitochondrial PPO across species, with IC50 values of 2.2 nM (mouse), 2.6 nM (rat), 12.1 nM (rabbit), 7.6 nM (dog), and 10.2 nM (human). Epyrifenacil induces liver tumor development in mice. Epyrifenacil can be used for weed control, and also used as a tool compound in toxicological research to study the mechanism of PPO inhibition, chemical-induced hepatotoxicity, and the mode of action of non-genotoxic carcinogens in rodents [3].

3-N-Nitroso-N-methylaminopyridine is a non-carcinogenic, non-mutagenic arylalkyl nitrosamine isomer that serves as a substrate for enzymatic metabolic processes. 3-N-Nitroso-N-methylaminopyridine undergoes enzymatic denitrosation, enzymatic N-oxide formation, and limited oxidative demethylation to produce trace amounts of 3-hydroxypyridine. 3-N-Nitroso-N-methylaminopyridine directly induces gene mutations in E. coli, but its mutagenic potential is eliminated by the rodent liver S-100 fraction. 3-N-Nitroso-N-methylaminopyridine shows no carcinogenicity in rats and no mutagenicity in the Ames test . 3-NMPY can be used in studies related to the metabolism and carcinogenic mechanisms of nitrosamine compounds in vitro and in vivo .
