Nitrilotriacetic acid
Based on 1 publication(s) in Google Scholar
Nitrilotriacetic acid is an orally active chelating agent for metal ions. Nitrilotriacetic acid is an aminotricarboxylic acid that can sequester metal ions as water soluble complexes. Nitrilotriacetic acid reacts with strong oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite, chlorine, ozone, or oxygen in the presence of palladium/carbon catalyst. Nitrilotriacetic acid interacts with solid phases such as cell membranes and bone matrices in the mammalian system. Nitrilotriacetic acid is classified as an epigenetic rodent carcinogen.

Biologische Aktivität
Nitrilotriacetic acid (Compound NTA) (0-1250 μg/mL, 24 h) induces a statistically significant increase in the number of micronucleated cells on L5178Y mouse lymphoma cells without S9[1].
Nitrilotriacetic acid (625-2500 μg/mL, 24-44 h) induces a statistically significant increase in the number of micronuclei in both CTLL-2 and CTLL-2 bcl2 cells without S9, whilst not associated with an increase in the percentage of apoptotic cells[1].
Nitrilotriacetic acid (0-500 μg/mL, 24 h) significantly increases the NTA-induced mutation frequency[1].
