Aza-CyBz is a NaCl-responsive near-infrared heptamethine cyanine fluorescent probe. Aza-CyBz has an excitation wavelength of 740 nm and detects signals in the range of 760-900 nm. NaCl induces Aza-CyBz to form ordered aggregates, resulting in fluorescence quenching. Aza-CyBz shows no obvious response to interfering substances such as plant carbohydrates, hormones, PEG and ROS. Aza-CyBz can enter plant mitochondria and reflect changes in their salt concentration, and can be used for visual imaging of salt stress in Arabidopsis thaliana root tips and living plants .

Tetraconazole is a selective irreversible inhibitor of 14-α-sterol demethylase (CYP51) with antifungal activity. Tetraconazole competitively binds to the enzyme to block fungal ergosterol synthesis, resulting in cell membrane damage. The EC50 of tetraconazole against wheat pathogens is 0.382-0.802 mg/L, and the EC50 against onion root tip meristem cell growth is 6.7 mg/L, and (R)-(+)-Tetraconazole is 1.49-1.98 times more active than (S)-(-)-Tetraconazole. Tetraconazole can also induce oxidative stress and chromosomal aberrations in plant cells .

Ypenyl is a cytostatic. Ypenyl hydrochloride, belonging to the alkylating agent class, exhibits clear genotoxicity and cell cycle disruption properties. Ypenyl induces chromosomal aberrations in broad bean root tip meristem cells and leads to a decrease in the mitotic index. Ypenyl may be used in cancer research .

Zarilamid is a fungicide which is active against a broad spectrum of Oomycete fungi. Zarilamid inhibits nuclear division in germinating zoospore cysts of Phytophthora capsici. Zarilamide inhibits growth of tobacco roots and causes swelling of the root tips, destructs microtubule cytoskeleton and inhibits mitosis .

Ilicicolin C exhibits antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas syringae with IC50 of 28.5 µg/mL. Ilicicolin C exhibits weak inhibitory activities against acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and β-glucuronidase with IC50 of 30-43 µg/mL. Ilicicolin C exhibits weak cytoxicity in human lung fibroblasts with IC50 of 64-120 µg/mL. Ilicicolin C affects seed germination and root tip growth of lettuce .

Terbucarb is a phenylcarbamate herbicide. Terbucarb disrupts the mitotic microtubule organizing centers in plant cells, leading to the formation of multipolar spindles and branched phragmoplasts, thereby inhibiting plant growth. An "anaphase star" pattern induced by Terbucarb is observed in onion root tips. Terbucarb is cytotoxic to isolated rat hepatocytes, inducing cell death accompanied by depletion of intracellular ATP, protein thiols and glutathione .

RhoNox-4 is a Fe 2+-selective fluorescence-activatable probe and an inhibitor of ferroptosis. RhoNox-4 shows no obvious cytotoxicity even at concentrations up to 50 μM. RhoNox-4 can selectively oxidize labile Fe 2+ to Fe 3+, depleting the iron pool required for lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis. RhoNox-4 inhibits ferroptosis induced by ferroptosis inducers; its activity depends on localization to the endoplasmic reticulum/Golgi apparatus, and it does not affect apoptosis or necrosis. RhoNox-4 can be used for imaging labile Fe 2+ in living cells, and also enables high-throughput screening of labile iron homeostasis regulators based on 96-well plates. RhoNox-4 allows visualization of cytoplasmic Fe 2+ levels in root tips of *Arabidopsis* (Ex/Em = 530-560/573-647 nm) .
