Calcium disodium edetate hydrate  (Synonyms: EDTA disodium calcium salt hydrate; Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium calcium salt hydrate)

Cat. No.: HY-W250119 Purity: 98.0%
Handling Instructions Technical Support

Calcium disodium edetate hydrate (EDTA disodium calcium salt hydrate) is a metal chelator and antifungal agent. Calcium disodium edetate hydrate chelates Mn2+, damages mitochondria, and interferes with carbohydrate metabolic pathways, particularly the synthesis of pyruvate in glycolysis. Calcium disodium edetate hydrate inhibits Penicillium digitatum and delays conidial germination. Calcium disodium edetate (hydrate) enhances the host defense system of citrus fruits. Calcium disodium edetate hydrate is applicable to research related to citrus green mold.

    In Vitro

Calcium disodium edetate hydrate (3.125-50 mmol L−1) completely inhibits hyphal growth of Penicillium digitatum strain P44 in vitro, with an MIC/MFC of 50 mmol L−1[2].
Calcium disodium edetate hydrate (12.5-50 mmol L-1; 8-12 h) dose-dependently delays and inhibits conidial germination of Penicillium digitatum strain P44 in vitro[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

    In Vivo

Edetate calcium disodium hydrate (25-250 mmol L-1; intralesional injection) reduces the incidence of citrus green mold and decreases lesion size in a dose-dependent manner[2].

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

    Help & FAQs
    • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
